John Abraham, who has been cast as Manya Surve in the keenly awaited 'Shootout At Wadala', is set to brush up his Marathi to play the author-backed role.
A Balaji Motion Pictures - White Feather co-production, 'Shootout At Wadala', among the biggest multi-starrers of the year, goes on floor today. It has been slated for a December 7 release
Manohar Arjun Surve (better known as Manya) was an infamous underworld gangster of Marathi origin. His death in 1982 during an encounter with the Mumbai police is the city's first recorded encounter killing.
Says John, "Being a Mumbaikar, I speak and comprehend Marathi well but to get into the skin of the character, I need to learn the more conversational and colloquial part of the language."
Interestingly, Kangana Ranaut has been paired opposite John for the first time. "She is a wonderful actor and I am looking forward to working with her. There is something unique about our pairing," John adds.
