Sony launches Shubh Vivaah

Sony Entertainment Television unveils its brand new fiction show ‘Shubh Vivaah’. A UTV Television production, with Shubh Vivaah launching at 7:30 pm slot, Sony Entertainment Television opens its early prime time slot.

This is the story of every average middle class girl in India. Every girl cherishes a dream since her childhood; the dream about an ideal husband and a picture perfect marriage. And it's every parent's dream to find an ideal husband for their daughter; one who has been brought up to adhere to all the values and traditions and will give their daughter every happiness in the world. Yet, as they say, matches are made in heaven and more often than not, the dream of an ideal husband truly remains incomplete. In this imperfection, each girl tries to find love and makes her marriage work.

Set in present day UP, the show will showcase the sights & hubbub of the lanes and by-lanes of Agra and Vrindavan. The mesmerizing backdrop of Taj Mahal and sacred ghats of Vrindavan essentially collaborate to evoke the essence of Uttar Pradesh.

Shubh Vivaah explores the lives of Mr Saxena and his five daughters. The story traces the love these five sisters share, the bonds they cement, the faith they place on each other and the dedication with which they try to face the harsh realities of their lives. Mr Saxena is a doting father whose only dream in life is to get his daughters married into respectable families and to see that they lead happy married lives. Since his wife’s death, Mr Saxena has been both a father and a mother to his daughters.

Like every average middle class girl in India, these five sisters also have been dreaming of a perfect marriage.  They don’t expect much from the man of their dreams. All they are looking for is unconditional love from their future husbands. Finally the time arrives when each of them gets married and with a heavy heart Mr Saxena bids them farewell to them.  How does marriage change the lives of five sisters? Will their picture of a ‘Perfect Husband' break after marriage or will they find the man of their dreams?

The show which is slated to go on air from 27th February 2012 boasts of an ensemble cast of the who's who of the telly industry. After wooing millions of hearts through his striking portrayal of a Punjabi boy in blockbuster ‘Tanu Weds Manu’, Eijaz Khan is all set to don the attire of a rustic boy from UP in Shubh Vivaah. Neha Janpandit who was last seen in Sony Entertainment Television’s Chhajje Chhajje Ka Pyaar, is paired with Eijaz. This show also marks veteran actor Rakesh Bedi’s comeback on the small screen.
